The SOS Children's Villages worldwide Hermann-Gmeiner-Fonds Deutschland e.V. is an independent, non-denominational children's rights organization. With its headquarters in Munich and offices in Berlin and Düsseldorf, the organization has been supporting the global projects of SOS Children's Villages since 1963. 200 employees are committed to the vision of “For a world that lets you grow”. With almost 3,000 programs in over 130 countries, the organization offers help to children, young people and families in need through education, medical care and family strengthening. The focus is on strengthening the family, sustainability, children's rights and cultural sensitivity.
 
To support our Scholarships & Educational Development team in our Munich office, we are looking for a Program Finance and Controlling Manager (m/f/d) on a full time basis.

Your tasks

The Program Finance and Controlling Manager is responsible for the operational management of all financial and administrative processes within the Global Scholarship Program of SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit. This hands-on role requires close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that day-to-day financial operations and administrative procedures in the Global Scholarship Program run smoothly, efficiently, and in line with the department’s objectives.

This includes following tasks:

  • Financial Operations & Compliance: Develop and monitor budgets, create financial forecasts, manage and track program expenditures, calculate scholarship amounts, and ensure all processes comply with internal and external requirements; prepare documentation for audits.
  • Documentation & Payments Coordination: Maintain and update applicant and recipient information as well as all relevant documents (financial documents, communications, reports, contracts, and scholarship offers) in appropriate databases and tools; prepare and submit billing requests, and manage payment transactions (with approximately 50% of the role focused on payment processing).
  • Reporting & Risk Management: Generate regular financial and operational reports, and proactively identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
  • Communication: Respond promptly to general inquiries from students and stakeholders.

Your profile

  • You successfully completed your studies or apprenticeship with a focus on Finance, Accounting, Business administration, or you have completed a comparable education or have experience related to the field, ideally in an international context.
  • You bring experience in accounting and project administration.
  • You approach routine and recurring tasks with diligence and reliability, understanding their importance for smooth program operations.
  • You are keen to take on existing tasks and consistently optimize them as well as significantly develop the financial processes of the Global Scholarship Program.
  • You are a team player with a positive attitude, hands-on-mentality and get things done.
  • You are flexible in navigating a complex and fast changing environment and have the ability to prioritize effectively when faced with multiple requests.
  • You are proactive and bring forward innovative ideas for improvements.
  • You have effective communication skills with very good command of English; another foreign language such as German, Spanish, French or Arabic is an advantage.
  • You have very good skills in MS-Office, Adobe, and knowledge of SAP and/or MS-Access. Additional computer skills are a plus.
  • Skills in MHPSS are an advantage.
